Alfredo Votta

My name is Alfredo Votta [Jr]. I’m a composer. I was born in Brazil, in the town of Botucatu, state of São Paulo, in 1980. I live in Jundiaí, in the same state. The piano is my instrument, for which I write most of my compositions.

The purpose of the blog is to speak about music in general, but I’ll often write about my own music, which is the one I know best, I suppose.

My main influences are minimalism and post-minimalism, sacred music (including Gregorian Chant), the music of Claude Debussy, Morton Feldman, Anton Webern and others. I aim in my works to attain beauty and spirituality in various manners, using familiar and traditional musical idioms as well as more “difficult” ones.
